A tranquil oasis in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
This project leveraged an initial need for resurfacing and restoring the functionality of the pool on the 6th floor of the St. Regis Hotel + Residences into a reimagined destination that meets the expectations of the renown hospitality brand and its users. TEF and collaborating architect Gio Pagani worked together to craft an aesthetic – inspired by light, water, and air – that reinforces the timeless sophistication and sustainable values of the St. Regis experience, while responding to the urban context of its downtown location.
The pool deck is organized into zones through partial walls that define lounging areas of privacy. Soft earth tones, organic furniture shapes, and wood bring nature inside, while large clerestory windows offer breathtaking views to the city and the sky, capturing a beautiful and dynamic play of light and water throughout the day. An oculus at one end of the pool mirrors the signature forms of SFMOMA, located across the street, abstractly uniting guests to the City.
