Perched at the nexus of meadow, forest, and ravine — with breathtaking views of Monterey Bay — this first of its kind complex seeks to facilitate exploration through the arts, sciences, humanities, and technology, based on research at UC Santa Cruz. Designed in association with Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects to serve as an intellectual hub and honor the power of the site, it consolidates exhibition galleries, meeting and study spaces, a large seminar room, public event spaces, collection storage, studios and offices, research residences, a café, and ample public gathering areas to nourish discovery. The project also includes a network of pathways to improve campus connectivity, including a 500 foot pedestrian bridge.
