Driven by a commitment to community service and social impact, Doug’s leadership has shaped TEF’s portfolio of innovative architecture.

Over a career spanning more than five decades, Doug has served as the founding principal of TEF, providing leadership across a broad spectrum of projects — from academic and civic facilities to housing, historic renovations, and workplaces for corporate and non-profit organizations. His portfolio includes numerous award-winning efforts such as the rehabilitation of historic Piers 1½, 3, and 5, the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco Don Fisher Clubhouse, the Live Oak School Renovation, the Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Foundation offices, and many projects within the Presidio of San Francisco.

Guided by a steadfast belief in architecture as a form of social agency, Doug’s work continues to focus on projects that strengthen community — whether revitalizing a historic public library or creating a healing environment for children and families in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood.
