As a Principal at TEF, Maryam has built enduring client relationships through trust, advocacy, and a deep respect for each organization’s values. On complex, stakeholder-driven projects, she helps diverse groups identify shared priorities and shape a direction they can support. She pairs design ambition with disciplined leadership and close attention to budgets and schedules. That same people-centered perspective informs her advocacy within TEF, where she has helped advance the firm’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion goals and foster a culture that prioritizes health and balance.
A committed advocate for community-serving design, Maryam brings a particular interest in trauma-informed environments that support healing, belonging, and growth. Her work includes early childhood and educational environments for Dahlia Montessori School, Osher Marin JCC, Live Oak School, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Francisco, and several independent Bay Area high schools. Beyond education, she especially enjoys working with mission-driven organizations, where design can advance their work and expand their impact within the community. This commitment is reflected in projects including the Save the Redwoods League Headquarters, St. Mary’s Center, the San Mateo Family Justice Center, Dogpatch Hub, and Swissnex at Pier 17.
Maryam earned a Bachelor of Architecture and Plan II degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She serves on the Board of Directors of FACT/SF and is a member of the AIA and the National Organization of Minority Architects.
