Tenant improvements to Building 101 at the Presidio — a former army barracks facing the Main Post with spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay — exploit the quirky beauty and authenticity of the historic masonry structure to support the independent spirit of Swirl, a full-spectrum ideas agency named one of the “100 Fastest-Growing Companies in the Bay Area 2014”. Completed on an aggressive schedule, improvements to the top two floors and part of the basement was driven by the need to maximize creative and bench workspace for more than 175 employees, while providing communal spaces that promote collaboration. Circulation on the lower floor passes through a great room that integrates a large kitchen, dining and play area/lounge to promote opportunities for casual interaction. On the upper floor, a large and dramatic open space in the building’s attic fuels the innovation of Swirl's creative groups.
