Located on the 16th floor of a Financial District highrise, this interior renovation centers on fostering connection, adaptability, equity, and joy — a vision perfectly aligned with the mission and values of the renowned philanthropic non-profit. To achieve this, open collaboration and gathering zones are strategically integrated throughout the office to encourage dynamic team interaction, supported by acoustic drapery and baffles to mitigate noise disruption. Frameless glass enclosures for offices and meeting rooms provide abundant access to views and daylight throughout the floorplate, while reinforcing the value of “transparency”. Additionally, arched openings act as design focal points, shaping distinct destinations and delineating key social areas within the workspace.
A tribute to the client’s deep connection to the Bay Area, the project’s interior language is inspired by the California landscape, incorporating natural colors and textures, such as FSC-certified wood plank flooring, as well as organic forms and local artisan craftsmanship. Undulating ceilings and curved archways also nod to the landscape and traditional Spanish architecture, to reinforce the California vibe. Strategically placed jewel-toned accents – captured in the carpet, wall graphics, furniture, and “jewel box” meeting room – express the clients bold commitment to arts and activism, enhanced by the Fund’s curated art collection showcased throughout the space.
