This mission-driven education center supports the Golden Gate National Recreation Area's goal to connect the diverse Bay Area population to urban environmental issues. Designed prior to established USGBC LEED standards, the reuse of the historically-significant U.S. Army photo lab integrates sustainable and recycled materials throughout, from the carpets, to the flooring, and the glass wall tiles. Students, educators, and nature lovers cross paths in the classrooms, café and meeting spaces which has some of the best views in the city of the Golden Gate Bridge and Crissy Field's reclaimed wetlands and beach landscape.
